When this family first reached out to Love A Greyhound, they hoped to find the perfect greyhound to join their home — but they never expected the beautiful twist that followed. During a meet‑and‑greet with Dee, they met Sweet Pea (now Sadie), and it was instantly love at first sight. She came home as a foster, but it was clear from day one that she was already part of the family.

Sadie settled in quickly, with Hugo taking her under his wing and showing her the joys of retired life. Fresh out of the racing kennels and beginning heartworm treatment, her journey came with challenges, but watching her grow, gain confidence and let her sweet, goofy personality shine has been incredibly rewarding.

It didn’t take long for her family to realise they couldn’t imagine life without her — and now it’s official. Sadie is home forever.

Herbie (formerly Lucky) settled into his new family’s life almost instantly after a short time in foster care. With the help of his older sister Ronnie, who proudly took on the role of mentor, he quickly gained confidence and learned how to embrace pet life — including a few silly “menace” behaviours she happily taught him.

He has already mastered sit and shake, and while his obedience is strongest when treats are involved, his family couldn’t be more proud. Herbie is a big cuddle bug who loves being as close as possible at all times, and his goofy personality keeps everyone smiling. He bonded with Ronnie from the very beginning, and the two have become inseparable best friends in just a few weeks.

His family describes the adoption process with Love A Greyhound as exceptional, with Dee providing support every step of the way. They couldn’t recommend adopting a second greyhound — or a first — more highly.

Herbie has truly found his place, and his family couldn’t imagine life without him.

Zelda may have begun life as a racing greyhound, but her true adventure started the day she was adopted. From the moment she arrived home, her wonderfully quirky personality shone through — full of zoomies, playful antics and an infectious enthusiasm for life. She quickly formed a special bond with Goofey the greyhound and has always shown gentle respect for Eddie the cat. With their support, Zelda has grown into a confident, loving and joyful girl.

Zelda is a true beach lover, happiest with the wind in her ears, racing across the sand or splashing at the water’s edge. When she’s not at the beach, she’s at the dog park making new friends and charming everyone she meets.

Over the past 30 years, this family has fostered many greyhounds and only “foster failed” three times — first with Oscar, then with Hughie, and now with Bindi.

They hadn’t planned on adding a fourth dog to their home, but Bindi proved impossible to let go. From the moment she arrived, her affectionate nature and joyful personality made her stand out as something truly special.

Bindi greets her family every morning with kisses, wags her little half‑tail enthusiastically at every new person she meets, and gets along beautifully with her greyhound brothers. After losing their two beloved greyhounds years ago, this family reached out to Love A Greyhound when they felt ready to welcome hounds back into their home. With a young child and hopes of adopting a pair, the team worked carefully to find the right match.

Although hesitant at first, still holding onto the memory of her heart dogs, Mum found comfort in the thoughtful guidance provided. Love A Greyhound introduced them to Mia and Monty (formerly Daz), two gentle, affectionate and wonderfully quirky greyhounds who bonded instantly the moment they arrived.

Mia quickly became the neighbourhood favourite, happily seeking pats from next‑door neighbours, pouncing on soft toys and performing her daily “doggy yoga”. Monty brings laughter every day with his enthusiastic “singing lessons” and tug‑of‑war games with their son and a cuddlepillar.

Together, Mia and Monty have filled the home with joy, companionship and the gentle presence this family had been missing.

After losing their old boy, this family welcomed several foster dogs into their home — a healing journey that gave them the time and space they needed. And when they were finally ready, the right dog arrived exactly when their hearts could open again.

They never expected this cheeky character to be the one who stayed. He certainly tested them at first (a few expensive belongings didn’t survive!), but it was love at first sight. Watching their old girl bond with her new friend has been incredibly special, and his crazy, chaotic energy has filled a hole they didn’t know how to mend.

Aston joined his new family in May as a little brother for their girl, Cola. From the very beginning, he settled comfortably into the home and quickly adapted to Cola’s routine, as though he had always been part of the family.

He has proven to be an absolute delight to live with — equally happy curled up on the couch for quiet time or out on a walk meeting his ever‑growing fan club. Aston is full of quirks and fun, always ready to play, explore or bring a burst of energy into the day. His cheerful, party‑ready personality has made him impossible not to adore.

Cola has slowly warmed to her new brother, and even she can’t resist joining in when it’s playtime. Watching the two of them zoom around the house has become one of the family’s greatest joys, and they look forward to many more years of houndie mayhem with both of them racing side‑by‑side.

Aston’s family is incredibly grateful to the Love A Greyhound team and volunteers for helping them find not just one, but two perfect companions who suit their home and lifestyle so well.

After the loss of his previous greyhound, Alex’s adopter reached out to Love A Greyhound — and within just two days, Dee had found the perfect match. Alex arrived ready to embrace retirement after an incredible 119 race starts, and he has settled into pet life with ease.

He is now a true gentleman of leisure. Alex is happiest lying nearby while his person works in the garden, rising at the very civilised hour of 7am, enjoying his daily stroll to the park, and never turning down a game of fetch. Calm, placid and beautifully well‑mannered, he has quickly become the best‑behaved greyhound his family has ever known.

Ringo recently joined his new family, settling in beautifully from the moment he arrived. He quickly bonded with his new sister Nikki and is steadily learning all about his other “siblings” — the chickens, birds and even the bearded dragons. His gentle curiosity has made each introduction a joy.

He has already chosen his favourite person (Grandma!) and proudly carries around his favourite toys: a gold squeaky bone and a cuddly crocodile. Ringo has also mastered the household routine, waiting at the same time every afternoon for his daily walk. He loves making new friends, including his cousin Mikey and his neighbours Walter and Herbie.

His family is excited to see where Ringo’s journey takes them and already think the world of their beautiful tall boy. They’re incredibly grateful for the smooth, supportive adoption process and feel honoured that Ringo chose them as his furever family.

Alfie is the 2nd Greyhound we have adopted from Love A Greyhound.
Our previous boy George passed away and we just couldn’t be without another, having now had 4 in our lives.Alfie came down from Rockhampton and had been with a loving foster family who Yumi put me in touch with so we could see him and discuss his personality. We had to wait awhile while transport was all arranged and then he arrived. He has settled right in. Has already been on a beach holiday, and absolutely loved the off leash beach, ran riot with all the dogs like a big kid. Everyone was amazed at his speed. We thought we would never catch him but he faithfully very quickly learned our ‘ family whistle’ and now is safely zoned into us anywhere. He loves toys, and his many walks and outings every day.He has met our young grandchildren and met their exuberance, with typical greyhound fashion. ( think I’ll just lay here quietly )

We couldn’t have asked for a better adoption experience than with Love a Greyhound. The support and care throughout the entire process made bringing Angel (now Scout) home felt so seamless and reassuring. Now, we’re all settled in and loving life together as a very happy little family - Andie, Jarred + Scout

Recently, we ran into Moo Moo, a gorgeous black and white greyhound, out and about with her foster family. It was love at first sight for us! Moo Moo leaned in for a pat and stared into my eyes. I think she knew she had met her forever people! Foster carer Lily put me in touch with Love A Greyhound Co-ordinator Dee who was amazing, answering all my questions and endeavouring to make sure that Moo Moo was the right hound for our family!

My main concern was making sure that Moo Moo was going to be happy in a ‘one-dog’ family. My previous greyhounds had always had a friend. The Love a Greyhound policy of a ‘4-week trial’ meant that I could make sure that Moo Moo was settled and happy, knowing that her foster family would take her back to continue her search for a forever home if ours did not end up being right for her. 

Thankfully, from day one it was clear that Moo Moo loved being an ‘only dog’- enjoying the undivided attention of the whole family and enjoying being top dog. It was meant to be.

Moo Moo has made such a difference to all of us. She is playful, affectionate, and trustworthy around the kids, She is also very cheeky and funny. She loves walks, cuddles (nothing she loves more than a good snuggle!), and games with her toys and family. She also enjoys naps on her beds (or ours!). We cannot imagine life without her! 

Thankyou to Love a Greyhound Inc and all your wonderful helpers and foster carers- greyhounds are truly the most amazing dogs and Moo Moo has been a perfect fit for our family.

Welcoming Jorge into our lives has been such a wonderful experience. He settled in so well, we were in love from day one! He is such sweet and goofy boy and has brought us so much joy. Dee is an amazing matchmaker and I'd recommend anyone who's in a position to be able to adopt to make the leap, we have never looked back!

This gorgeous little fella originally came to us as a foster. He was initially very nervous about everything. With some determination on his part and a little encouragement from us Scooty has managed to master stairs, wooden floors and dog doors. Whilst he is still working on conquering his fear of the unfamiliar outside world, he is making great progress! 

At home in his safe place he is a very relaxed, loving, sweet boy. We shortly realised we loved this little dude and we couldn’t let him go! Some of Scooty’s favourite things about the good life include: soft beds (especially the hooman bed), tummy rubs, toys and treats! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Scooty and glad we get to be a part of it!

Ollie (formerly Olivia) has my whole heart in her tiny delicate paws. She was meant to be my foster baby but after a few false starts and a placement that didn’t work out, I realised my life was happier with her in it. While I feel a bit guilty, it’s works out well since she is the perfect Love a Greyhound mascot dog; cute, snuggly and a total extrovert! Since she’s staying with us now, expect to see her at every Love a Greyhound event and please, please, come give her a cuddle!

Meea has the gentlest soul and has truly become the heart of our family. From the moment she arrived, she’s adored our kids, following them everywhere they go (with the occasional sneaky mission to steal their soft toys).
She shares a beautiful bond with our cat, and their daily nose sniffs perfectly reflect her gentle, loving nature. Meea greets everyone like they are already best friends and is always ready for a cuddle or ten.
She lives for the simple joys: her much anticipated cheese tax at dinner time, tossing her toys around in the air, and strolling through the neighbourhood where her floppy sideways ears earn her endless admiration.
She’s grown so much in confidence, mastering the art of reaching and no longer startled by every little sound. We honestly can’t imagine our lives without her, even if she firmly believes that wherever she’s standing is exactly where she should stay.

Tover (formerly Rysta) came to us when he needed a little extra help. A bright spark entered that day and he brought a touch of magic with him. Hence is name Tover, which means ‘magic’ in Dutch.
He is a gentle soul so cuddly and relaxed. He loves everyone and everything especially his food. Loves food! He is so joyful on walks and has won the hearts of humans and dogs wherever he goes. In eight weeks, he has made friends with some local early morning dogs and walking groups. We are so happy that he is with us.

Frankie’s (now Murphy) first hurdle was learning stairs! Thank gosh for his unmatched food motivation because he was a pro in no time.

Mostly a certified couch potato, happiest when curled up beside us, but we have found Murph’s got an adventurous side! He’s a beach explorer, a dog park socialite, loves to sing and talk and always ready to jump in the car for a new adventure.

We’re so lucky to have this goofy, loving, and endlessly entertaining pup in our lives. Murphy has brought joy, laughter, and a whole lot of slobber into our home, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

When we saw his beautiful face we knew he would not be with us for long.!
Henry was very timid , scared of noises like the coffee machine and vacuum and even scared of us. He would not leave our side and needed constant pats. He took the lead from foster sister Star and was soon ready for his forever home. - with us! Henry has become our first foster fail!- 🩷Aaron & Amanda

Jenko, (formally Johnny,) our quirky, full-of-life bundle of joy! From the moment we adopted him, he’s brought endless energy, laughter, and love into our home. Whether he’s zooming around the yard, showing off his playful personality, or curling up beside us after a long day, Jenko reminds us daily how special it is to have a loyal companion. His goofy quirks and big heart make him truly one of a kind—and now, we couldn’t imagine our family without him.

Mini (one m, cos she’s the opposite of small, mostly in personality), has taken over our home. Goofy and garrulous, she is also a bit of a barge-arsed bully when it comes to food. She’s put our grumpy first greyhound Jackson in his place, and taken over as ruler of the roost. She’s lazy, refusing to chase Jackson as he does his huge zoomies on the beach. And she thinks she is a lap dog, with her own personal couch!

We met Alyssa at the Rocky Pet Expo and immediately fell in love with her sweet nature. A few weeks later she came for her trial with us and there was never any doubt she wouldn’t be staying. She fit seamlessly into our lives and had us all wrapped around her paw from day 1.

A few weeks after that we decided she needed some company during the day, enter Ares (was Hero). He’s the boisterous to her calm, the boofhead to her intelligence. They immediately got along and I knew he was staying, they just complimented each other.

They spend their days cuddling on the couch, running around the back yard and just living their best houndie life with us. Greyhounds aren’t a breed a had ever really thought about to be honest, but now I’m so grateful to have these two in our lives!

From Tharyn: Tess came to us as a foster. She was an extremely anxious hound, backing away from pretty much everyone and putting herself into safe spaces to be on her own. Within a couple of weeks she’d started to come out of her shell. She had a couple of failed placements and at this point we realised that we couldn’t bear to see her going through the anxiety of new people again. She’s completely opened up, and is such a pup (despite her early greying). She’s learnt to live with both cats (to the point of the cats letting her be on the bed with them without swiping at her). So, we foster failed and unfortunately this will be the end of our fostering days - but she’s totally worth it!

From Maya: Jane is my newly adopted rescue greyhound, and I honestly didn’t realise a greyhound was what my life had been missing. She’s the sweetest girl, snuggles up in my bed every night, and has filled my days with so much love and calm. Her cheeky personality is starting to come out and it’s been so exciting watching her come out of her shell. Jane has my whole heart, and my life is infinitely better with her in it.

From Danica: Wayne has been the most wonderful addition to our lives. He is the sweetest, most gentle, yet goofiest boy and provides us with so many laughs throughout the day. He absolutely adores a big walk (especially if he can spot a roaming turkey or a cow), a car ride, flinging his toys in the air, running around with the neighbours’ kids, and most of all, cuddling up to us at any point in time (bonus points if it’s on the couch). We have loved watching Wayne’s personality grow each day and couldn’t imagine life without him. Thank you LAG, we couldn’t thank you more! The whole process was seamless and the support and knowledge that LAG were willing to provide from start to finish was amazing and invaluable. Wayne has settled in so well and this is a testament to the organisation’s commitment to getting to know both the people and the greys to make a great match. Everyone at LAG has been so kind, friendly and clearly cares so much about the wellbeing of all the dogs that come through their care.

After losing a senior hound last year, we were unsure if we were ready to adopt again. Enter Hazel. Hazel has filled our hearts with joy and love and has been a welcomed addition to our family. Hazel loves her walks, playing with her stuffed toys and ripping up any box she can get her paws on! Whilst still a little unsure of how to be social with other dogs, Hazel has been a star at greyhound training and we are slowly learning how to interact! Humans.....Hazel loves! She wants to say hello to anyone with her tail wagging in the air! Big thanks to Yumi for making the adoption process seemless and Jane, Hazel’s foster mum, who did such a great job!
